The .nbt and Java world formats

A structure-block .nbt file is Java Edition's structure format: a block-state palette and positioned blocks, placed in-game by a structure block. A Minecraft Java world is a save folder of region (.mca) files and a level.dat. The conversion writes the structure into a fresh Java world folder, delivered as a .zip, so it loads as a singleplayer save.

How to convert .nbt to Java world

01

Select the Java structure block's .nbt file.

02

Use the preview to confirm the bounds and blocks.

03

Keep the Java world format selected and download the .zip, then unzip it into your saves folder.

When to use this conversion

Use this route to open a vanilla structure as its own Java world without a structure block or pasting it into an existing save.

Compatibility notes

Load the world in a Minecraft version that supports the structure's blocks. The build is placed in a generated world; newer blocks need a matching client.
