Legacy MCEdit schematic guide
Only pick .schematic if a tool or server asks for the old format from before Minecraft 1.13.
New to .schematic?
The old schematic format, from before Minecraft 1.13. Almost everything uses .schem now, so only pick this one if a tool asks for a .schematic file.
What you need
Minecraft Java 1.12.2 or older
MCEdit, or an old WorldEdit build for that version
Somewhere safe to test the paste
What is .schematic?
This format comes from MCEdit, an old Minecraft editor. Back then every block had a number instead of a name, so that is what the file stores. It still works for Minecraft 1.12 and older, but blocks added later never got a number, so they cannot be saved this way.
WorldEdit clipboard documentation →How to use a .schematic export
01
Export the build
Pick “schematic (<=1.12)” in Bloxelizer and download the file.
02
Move it to your tool
Put the file in the schematics folder of your old MCEdit or WorldEdit setup.
03
Load and check it
Load the schematic and look at it before you paste, so you can spot blocks that did not exist in your version.
When to use it
Pick it for Minecraft 1.12.2 and older, old WorldEdit setups, or any tool that asks for an MCEdit .schematic file.
Things to watch out for
New WorldEdit versions may refuse to open it, and newer blocks can go missing or turn into something else. For anything modern, use .schem instead.
Useful tips
Use an older Minecraft
Minecraft 1.12.2 gives the best results, because block numbers all changed in 1.13.
Moving an old build forward?
Save it as .schem instead. Modern tools read that one properly.
