The .stl and Java world formats

An .stl file is a triangle mesh and nothing more — no colour, no materials — the format produced by CAD packages, scanners, and 3D printing workflows. A Minecraft Java world is a save folder of region (.mca) files plus a level.dat. The conversion voxelizes the triangles into blocks and writes them into a fresh world folder, downloaded as a .zip you unzip into your saves.

How to convert .stl to Java world

01

Upload your .stl file in the converter below.

02

Choose the build size, rotation, and block palette in the preview panel, then apply.

03

Keep the Java world format selected, download the .zip, and unzip it into your saves folder.

When to use this conversion

Best for large models — architectural exports, terrain scans, sculptures — where structure blocks and schematic pastes get in the way and you just want to walk through the shape.

Compatibility notes

Because .stl has no colour, the palette you select determines how the build looks. The model is written into a generated world, and very high build sizes are limited mainly by browser memory and voxelization time.
